TUESDAY 4/26 (morning):
Here's what happened.
Last night an alliance was born. It had existed for a while in this game, but last night was the first time all of us were in one room and someone said "it's us 5 and that's it." That alliance consists of myself, Erik, Stephen, Erin, and Tom. Cool. I really like that alliance. And I also have a "got your back" thing with Tucker, so even if he is sweet talking us like the rest of the Heroes seem to fear, I'm able to stick with him or stick to the alliance, whatever I think is more beneficial to me.
That's all cool. The issue is what's going to happen in this vote.
Allan, Ashley, and Tucker all immediately decided to vote Morgan. To be true, so did I. And so did Stephen. I even wrote a confessional about it yesterday. It would be another easy vote out, the tribe would remained entirely unified, and we would let Morgan leave to take care of her personal stuff without losing our numbers advantage. But then people started thinking long term:
Erik started saying that maybe it wouldn't be a good idea to keep Allan and Ashley on the tribe because they seem to be a tight team and have ties to the other side.
Erin made the point that Morgan is a 100% no-doubt de-facto vote for whatever cause we want her to vote for. She wouldn't have ties to the other side, and especially if we keep her around she will have absolutely no reason not to vote with us for the rest of the game. That means it's now a solid-6 until the Final 6. She also told me that maybe Morgan didn't want to go home as badly as she wanted to right after her personal stuff happened. Dubious, sure, but she's right. Morgan's a very transparent person and I believe, more than anything else in this game so far, that if we don't vote Morgan out this time she will vote with us for the rest of the game. That is if she doesn't quit...
Tom was torn. He didn't know whether to think short term, and vote out Morgan for the challenge benefit, or think long term and vote out Allan to make sure we have a solid block.
Stephen was still for Morgan, though not as strong. He seemed to start being swayed by the rest of the group, but really just wanted to come to a decision. A collective decision.
So the five of us had a big chat last night to decide what to do. Erin made her case to keep Morgan. We kept talking about how Allan, Ashley, and Tucker would react to both decisions. Would Ashley immediately jump ship to the villains? Would Tucker be mad that he wasn't included in this discussion? Would keeping a weaker player in challenges (Morgan) weaken the tribe overall? Would we still be able to win even if Allan wasn't a part of the tribe?
It was a very, very interesting chat because in making this decision all five of our gameplans and strategies came to the forefront.
Erin - wears her heart on her sleeve. Makes decisions based on emotion and gut reactionbut thinks in the long-term. Broke the decision down into very simple terms: Morgan is too valuable and trustworthy to vote out. Simple. That's it.
Erik - similar to Erin in that he broke the decision down into simple terms. Not similar to Erin in that he doesn't seem to make decisions based on emotion. At least not 100% based on emotion.
Stephen - thinks in the short term. He wants to win challenges and keep the tribe strong. The easier the better.
Tom - very similar to me in terms of decision-maker Gets all options and information and then makes a balanced and well-thought-out decision. Doesn't seem to want to be the guy who leads the alliance, at least not yet.
So after about an hour of talking about this, four of the five of us started leaning towards voting Morgan. Erin didn't agree with the decision but said she would vote with the rest of us because she trusts us. Noble. Maybe stupid, but noble. Tom, Stephen, and I decided that this was like a James vote on actual CBS Survivor. Getting rid of dead weight. Dead weight we all like and dead weight that is kind of the heart of the tribe, but dead weight nonetheless.
I went to bed last night thinking that was it. Everyone was voting for Morgan and that was the end of it. An 8-1 Morgan vote out.
When I wake up, Stephen is freaking out. He's been up all night. 24 hours straight. Thinking about this vote and doing who knows what else. Apparently, overnight he and Erik had a freakout about voting Morgan. They just couldn't do it. They told me they agreed with Erin and that they just couldn't vote out Morgan because she's a 100% no-doubt de-facto vote for us at any time in the game. I see that point. I do. But if we vote Allan out this time I'm worried about what happens next. If we vote out Allan we know we make at least one enemy, maybe two. If we vote morgan we dont make any .. at least not yet.
I really want to talk to Tucker today to see what his thinking would be if we voted out Allan. With Allan out, we have 6-strong and 2 maybes. With Morgan out, we have 5-strong and 3 strong-for-nows, but maybe not strong later. With Morgan out we're also way better at challenges.
Tom is staying with his vote for Morgan. Allan, Ashley, and Tucker are all voting for Morgan.
Stephen, Erik, Erin, and Morgan will be voting for Allan.
...looks like I'm the 9th, final, and deciding vote.
Sweet
